St George is the administrative centre for the Shire of Balonne, is situated on the Balonne River in Southern Inland Queensland. The distract population is about 3,800 people.

The town is 513 kilometres due west of Brisbane and sits just inside the region of South West Queensland, Australia.

St George is well known for its beautiful river and everything that surrounds it. Country gardens, riverside walk, landscapes, bird-life and the beautiful colours of the sunrise and sunsets.
